I have grown fond of the Skinny Girl Margarita. It actually tasted pretty good without salt. This is for those nights where I am feeling guilty about the calories, but cant resist a good marg. It is refreshing and has a pretty good flavor of margarita - not too sweet.
I have also found a mixer that is pretty good at World Market - Tres Agaves Margarita Mix. This mix is very basic and only has lime juice and agave sugar. All you have to do is add the Tequila. It is only $7.95 and tastes great with salt and lime.
But if you are looking for a great recipe for margaritas, look no further than below. This is a wonderful recipe that was passed down to me from someone that knows a really good bar tender.
- 4 ounces good-quality Tequila
- 1 1/2 ounces Triple Sec
- 3 ounces fresh-squeezed lime juice
- 2 to 3 ounces Simple Syrup or to taste
- Coarse salt, for rimming the glass
- Lime slices, garnish
These all would make great additions to your Cinco De Mayo festivities, unless you are going to celebrate the Derby that weekend, then you might need a Mint Julip!
